TANGY SHRIMP OR FISH CURRY WITH RAW MANGO

This is a quick and easy version of the prawn or fish curry with green mangoes and okra! I decided to add the okra in on a whim and it tasted really good. Try it, it may just become a favorite.

INGREDIENTS
{Enough for 4 people}

2 big onions roughly chopped
4 cloves of garlic
1 inch piece of ginger
6 green chillies
2 tsp cumin seeds {jeera}
8 curry leaves
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder {haldi}
2 tsp sugar
Salt to taste
4 tbs fish sauce
400 ml coconut milk
1/2 cup water
3 tbs oil
1 medium green mango cut in four pieces{remove the seed} 
6 fillets of  any white fish or shrimp.
FOR OKRA
8 to 10 pieces of okra (Bhindi)
1 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
4 tsp oil
pinch of salt

METHOD

- Put the first 5 ingredients in a blender and blend into a smooth paste.
- Heat the oil and and add the curry leaves.
-Add the onion paste and fry for 10 minutes on low flame, stir occasionally.
-Add the chili powder, turmeric  powder. Stir.
-Add the mango pieces, coconut milk and water and bring to boil. Lower flame and simmer till mango pieces are soft.
- Cut the top and bottom of the okra off. Dry the okra well. Mix the red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt in the okra.
-Shallow fry the okra in 4 tsp oil till half cooked. {about 5 to 7 minutes}
-Add the okra in the curry.
-Add fish sauce and sugar.
-Add the fish or shrimp. Cook for 7 to 10 minutes or till fish or shrimp is cooked.

Serve with steamed white rice.
